Pairings

Cinnamon / Fawns / Blues / Whites

Cinnamon / Fawns / Blues / Whites

Sex Linked

Cinnamon, Fawn, Blue and white canaries are sex linked. This means that you will be able to predict the progeny of a pair of birds based from their genetics. Below are pictorial pairings for each potential sex linked pair.

Dominent Whites

There is a hint of yellow on the wings and shoulder of the dominant white canary. This is because they have the typical gene, which means they are not pure White. When two dominant Whites are paired together, 25% of the offspring will have two dominant White genes. These birds will perish in the shell or soon after hatching because of this deadly mix. It is written that pairing two white birds together is not advised due to this deadly combination; nevertheless, this is based on statistics, and some accomplished fanciers have successfully bred large numbers of white birds by pairing white birds together.
